Sir Lewis Hamilton claims he is not bothered that he broke an unwanted Formula 1 record heading into this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
The seven-time world champion is enduring a difficult season as he struggles to adapt to life at Ferrari, battling with his car and clashing with his team over strategy.
The sprint race victory in China proved to be a false dawn for the 40-year-old who is sixth in the standings and yet to finish on the podium for his new team.
In fact, his fourth-place at last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix means he has now gone 13 races without a podium, the longest streak of his career and an unwanted run that stretches back to last year’s Qatar Grand Prix.
‘I don’t really look at those stats things, so it isn’t really something that affects me,’ Hamilton told reporters on Thursday.
‘Of course, still it [Silverstone] would be a great place to be able to change that.’
If there was ever a circuit to end this barren run, it’s Silverstone with Hamilton the most successful driver in British Grand Prix history with nine victories.

He has finished on the podium here for the last 11 consecutive years and notably ended his near-three year winless run at the the 2024 race.
Hamilton has played down the chances of a remarkable 10th British Grand Prix win but thinks that anything is possible with the home crowd behind him.
‘I would never want to jinx it. In my heart I’m hoping for a strong weekend,’ he added.

‘I’ve not had a podium yet so this would be a special place to have that. I’m hoping the amazing support we have here can make a difference.
‘I’m hopeful we will be in a similar position to Austria but I have never focused too much on Ferrari’s performance here in the past.
‘If it’s a dry day, McLaren will walk off into the distance. But you never know what will happen here with the wind and rain. The crowd will make a big difference, so I’m hoping they help us get a bit closer.’
Juan Pablo Montoya tips Hamilton for British Grand Prix podium

Juan Pablo Montoya won the 2006 British Grand Prix and is backing Hamilton to finish third this weekend behind Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
‘I think McLaren is going to be the best again in Silverstone,’ the former McLaren and Williams driver told BettingLounge.co.uk.
‘With the cooler temperatures, Mercedes is going to be better. I think Red Bull is going to run pretty well with the cooler truck as well.
‘Ferrari, the thing is we know McLaren is going to be on top right there but I think between Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes is so close that you don’t know who’s going to be where.
