If you’re reading this, you’ve probably accepted your offer at King’s (congrats btw), but have absolutely no idea as to what accommodation you want to pick. I remember being concerned about transport, the commute, closeness to shops – the lot! Not to worry: I come bearing the best guide to picking your first year accommodation at King’s. This is a totally unbiased and unsolicited list, even though I would defend my first year halls with my life and soul.
Battersea
Now, I know I said that this list is unbiased, and that is true to a certain extent – but these are my first AND second year halls, and if Battersea has no fans, then I’ve died. This accommodation has amazing transport links (with Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park merely a two minute walk away), shops incredibly close by and it only takes twenty minutes to get to Strand Campus. I often go for runs in Battersea Park and love exploring the area, with it’s easy access to Clapham Junction. I would 100 per cent recommend this accommodation. Can you tell that I stayed here?

Every King’s student I have ever met either stayed here, or wished they did. And this is not an exaggeration. If I could pick any other accommodation, it would be this one. Literally a five minute walk from Spitalfields market and Liverpool Street Station, Hayloft Point’s location is simply amazing. Plus, the building itself comes with a gym, karaoke room and even a cinema room! And they offer KAAS too – an absolute bargain if I say so myself.
Angel Lane
@londonlassie I loveee my London flat
#kingscollege #london #londonstudyabroad #angellane
I always hear cool things about Angel Lane: To me, the artsy and quirky people live there, and I love that for them. If you’re concerned about transport, I would take care with this one as it is located in Stratford, which is quite far from any of the campuses. But, there are still some strong transport links into central London.
Nevertheless, the build itself is so cool (especially with the circular courtyard) You’ll definitely be able to meet people from all walks of life here since its intercollegiate, and the accom is surrounded by shops, with Westfield Stratford mere minutes away. KAAS students – you’re in luck again.
Atlas
The first thing that sets this accommodation apart is the price. This place is a little bit pricier compared to the other buildings. Nothing wrong with that, of course. But, you’re paying for an extremely central location in Vauxhall with good transport links, and a very modern building.
The studios here are absolutely stunning. I personally don’t know anyone who has stayed here, but they give a very laid-back vibe. If you’re a Swiftie, the Black Dog pub is not far from this building at all. I would consider that a subtle flex if I were here…
Canada Water
I personally love Canada Water, as its location has very strong transport links, shops galore, and the docks incredibly close by. Perfect for anyone’s Instagram feed, I would say. Every single room in this accommodation is an ensuite, which is definitely a win too!
This one is definitely a little further away from campus than the others, but being right on the Jubilee line gets you to Guy’s Campus so fast. Again, may be a little pricy, but welcome to London!
Great Dover Street
@laurenbalmerr when your flat still looked messy the night before you moved out

Everyone I’ve met from Great Dover Street is so unhinged, and I love it. If you’re more of a social butterfly, this is your place. The best bit? The busiest pub on Sports Night (Dover Castle) is literally a two minute walk from here. The location is brilliant if you plan on studying at Guy’s and there is ALWAYS something going on at this accommodation. A part of me wishes I was here, soaking up all of the chaos.

I feel like a lot of Guy’s students stay here, as I’m not really well versed in this building. However, being in Elephant and Castle, you have such a good location for all of the clubs south of the river. You’re basically a five minute walk from Ministry of Sound, and I would NEVER complain about that. All of the rooms here are ensuite too, but this accommodation is a little pricier than the others. Paying for the location and the great facilities, I assume.
Moonraker Point

If you’re looking for a great location, you’ve found it. Literally walking distance from Borough Market and London Bridge station. You can get anywhere from here, and have some great food at the same time. But this building is also a bit pricier. I guess its the sacrifice you have to make if you want to be extremely central.
Orchard Lisle and Iris Brook
Not going to lie, I didn’t even know that this accommodation existed until about halfway through first year. Not a lie. But after doing a bit of research, you’re literally on Guy’s Campus here. And I mean, this is a campus accommodation. Any incoming med students have to pay attention to this one. What’s better than finishing your lab and literally waltzing back into your bedroom for a nap? Nothing, exactly.
Stamford Street Apartments
Same goes for Waterloo students here. Want to cross the road back to your flat? Here’s the place! You’re on Waterloo Bridge, and can literally see Big Ben from your place. If that’s not screaming “this is the place to be an influencer and post about it”, I don’t know what does. Everyone I know that stayed here also seems very chill, but that could be wrong, as I’ve heard some horror stories about SSA. Maybe even on the same level as Great Dover Street. Don’t take me up on it.

Now, this accommodation is new for 2025/26, so I’m going off of pictures from it’s website. I could be completely misled here. But if you’re a KAAS student, I would definitely look into this one as the entire building is designed for KAAS qualifying students.
With a somewhat similar location to Atlas and Battersea, you have strong transport links into central London, as well as a modern new build. There are no ensuites here though – do with that information as you wish…
Wolfson House
@car1otta
Last but not least, arguably the most iconic accommodation, as everyone has thought about it once or twice. Especially with the prices at other KCL accommodations. If money is a big factor for you, this is the accommodation I would look into the most. I’ve heard about some unhinged things going on here, so perhaps it’s more social than it comes off to be. This is also right on top of Guy’s Campus too, so a perfect after-lab nap is definitely possible.
Hopefully, you’ve now got a better idea as to what accommodation will be most suitable for you! But, your first year is yours to make at King’s, no matter what building you find yourself in. Welcome to our incoming freshers!
