AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF)- A road resurfacing project on Bobby Jones Expressway could slow you down.
Lanes will be closed overnight between Washington Road and Scott Nixon Memorial Drive for the project.
This is one of the busiest roads in Augusta which caused the pavement to wear down.
So, if you’re traveling overnight expect frequent overnight lane closures in the coming weeks as crews work on this project.
GDOT says this work needed to be done.
“More than 40,000 cars travel every day on average. We’re repaving this section between Scott Nixon Memorial Drive and Washington Road. This hasn’t been done since 2014, more than a decade. So, it’s something that needs to be done,” said Will Volk, District 2 for GDOT.
Although closures take place from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am, GDOT is trying to limit the inconvenience.
They’ve restricted the work between 6:00 am to 7:00 pm until its finished.
