Let’s not play silly beggars: Nobody is watching And Just Like That with the expectation of high brow, accomplished television. But people are, however, hoping that the show can at least not make a gobsmackingly massive plot hole that has sent the Sex and the City sequel viral for all the wrong reasons. And Just Like That is now in its third season and has received some of its worst media attention yet after a major plot hole in which basically a character who was already meant to be dead has somehow died again. How does a major HBO show manage this? That remains to be seen, but the saga in and of itself is hilarious and that’s before we get into how good the tweets are about it.
Here’s how And Just Like That managed to air the biggest plot hole ever and kill off a character who’d been dead for two seasons.
Um…
Lisa Todd Wexley was one of the new characters drafted into And Just Like That to fill the Kim Cattrall shaped Samantha Jones hole in the show. In the most recent episode of And Just Like That, she announces on the phone that her father has just suddenly died of a stroke.

In the clip, Lisa explicitly says that her dad died “this afternoon”. But the above video shows that way back in season one, Lisa was talking about how her dad was already dead. In that clip, the death of her father isn’t even recent.
This plot hole from And Just Like That has gone viral instantly. The two episodes were not written by the same person, so perhaps this is where the error has come in – and the fact that that the season one comment was quite throwaway. Worse still, in season two Lisa’s dad made an appearance in episode four. In an episode that was funnily enough titled Alive!
The reaction to the plot hole, or the very deliberate decision to kill off a character twice, has been hilarious online. One person said the show should “lean into it and kill off Lisa Todd Wexley’s dad every season”.
UPDATE: IndieWire say a source has given an explanation
According to IndieWire, a source close to And Just Like That has given an explanation for the plot hole, and basically says that the person who died in season one was actually Lisa Todd Wexley’s stepfather – and the season three father is her biological.
Sure, guys! Let’s go with that.
