Oscar Branning (Pierre Moullier) looks set to be a chip off the old block when he returns to EastEnders next week, causing mayhem just like dad Max Branning (Jake Wood).

It was recently confirmed that the youngest of Max and ex-wife Tanya Branning’s (Jo Joyner) children would be making a comeback to Walford after eight years away

Now all grown up, Oscar arrives back on the Square next week after his sister Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) receives an unexpected call from him – but their reunion will be far from straightforward.

As the two catch up, Lauren learns where he has been and why he can’t return home.

Determined to convince Lauren to let him stay, Oscar lays on some emotional blackmail, but they are interrupted by Peter (Thomas Law) and Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), who arrive asking questions.

Despite their obvious concerns, Lauren agrees to let Oscar move in for a while – but it looks set to be an unwise decision when Oscar later receives a message that suggests he may be more trouble than he’s worth…

As Oscar starts making an impression on the locals, his uncle Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) digs a little deeper and finds out about his difficult relationship with parents Max and Tanya, giving him some food for thought.

Meanwhile, Oscar comes up with a plan to scam Ian by staging a fall at the chippy and demanding compensation. However, the incident has unintended consequences when a social worker sees the drama unfold…

As the week goes on, Oscar is still causing chaos, forcing Jack to step in and advise Lauren to offer her brother a trial shift on the fruit and veg stall.

She tells him this is his chance to turn his life around, and while Oscar is initially sceptical, his cousin Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) finds an innovative way to convince him.

His first day on the market is eventful to say the least, with nobody believing he’ll last. But when he finds out that Lauren’s newborn son Jimmy is blind, the teen knuckles down to make his new gig work.

However, with dad Max’s return to Walford imminent, it is only a matter of time before the peace is well and truly disrupted…

Oscar was born to Tanya and Max back in 2007, and was last seen on screen in 2017, played by Charlee Hall, when Oscar was brought to Walford to visit Max on Father’s Day.

Newcomer Pierre Moullier is now taking over the role of Oscar, and previously teased that there are a lot of ‘skeletons in the closet’ waiting to fall out for the Brannings.

‘It keeps hitting me that I’m actually on Albert Square!’ he said. ‘When I found out I was joining the Brannings, it was so exciting as they are such an iconic family, and I love that there are so many skeletons in the closet.

‘Oscar is so much fun to play, and the audience should be prepared for the unexpected as he’s a complex guy!’

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 14 July at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
