The trailer for one of Netflix’s most popular dark series has left fans feeling conflicted.

Tim Burton’s hit show Wednesday, featuring Jenna Ortega, is set to return to our screens for its second season on August 5 this year, three years after it originally aired.

After dropping some first-look images, the streaming platform gave us a sneak peak of what’s in store.

This time around, Ortega once again returns as the deadpan, sharp-witted Wednesday Addams who steps into the heart of supernatural chaos.

The new season promises a darker, more intense narrative as she navigates family dynamics, friendships, old rivalries and a new supernatural mystery.

However, despite fans showing excitement for Ortega to reprise her role, one detail has left viewers furious.

After revealing the trailer for the second season, Netflix went on to add that it will be rolled out in two phases.

The first two episodes will premiere on August 6 while the remaining four will drop on September 3, exclusively on Netflix.

Taking to social media, @MsAnjaliB said: ‘Why must you break all the seasons in parts, Netflix? WHY?’

@CanadianZar also wrote: ‘Part 1 so we can milk the show like Stranger Things & Squid Game.’

@SativaShower added: ‘Part 1 part 3 part 2 … Y’all goofy just release the show together.’

Many fans were still excited to see the newest trailer, though, with @moreofjoana commenting: ‘She’s an icon, she’s a legend and she is the moment.’

@moreofjoana also added: ‘What a great announcement.’

Netflix’s official synopsis for the new series reads: ‘Wednesday Addams returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await.

‘This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends, and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem.

‘Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.’

Joining Ortega, Emma Myers, Steve Buscemi, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday and Billie Piper will all be featuring.
