Coronation Street has finally revealed the truth about what happened to Gary Windass (Mikey North) in shocking flashback scenes.
Viewers will know that Gary has been in a coma in recent episodes, though how he came to be there has been a complete mystery.
While Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) has been going out of her mind with worry over Gary’s sudden disappearance, tonight it was revealed that one of his neighbours has known exactly where he’s been all this time.
It transpired that Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) had been holding vigil at Gary’s bedside, pretending to be his wife.
However, this wasn’t just out of the goodness of her heart – she obviously had an ulterior motive.

In a dramatic flashback, it was revealed that Lou and Gary had got into a confrontation, with Gary threatening to expose Lou’s blackmail and report her to the police.
Terrified of leaving her children without a parent, Lou begged him not to, but when he suggested they’d be better off without her, she saw red and swung at him with a metal pole.
With Gary on the ground bleeding, Lou hid in the shadows as Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) stumbled past, high on LSD.
The sight of Gary amid their hallucinations completely spooked them, and the two young women ran off in terror, leaving Lou to deal with the consequences of her actions.

When a dogwalker stumbled across the scene, he rang an ambulance, as Lou feigned innocence and began the act of being Gary’s wife.
At the hospital in present day, Lou apologised to Gary, insisting that she had only wanted to stop him from going to the police – which was why she wanted to be there when he woke up.
However, that opportunity passed her by as Gary’s eyes flickered open minutes after she’d left.
Will he reveal the truth about what happened to him?
