Back in 2023, makeup artist Lana Jenkins entered the Love Island villa alongside big names such as Samie Elishi, Tom Clare, Casey O’Gorman, Olivia Hawkins, and Will Young. She largely coupled up with Ron Hall, besides brief flings with Aaron Waters, and she and Ron ultimately came second behind series winners Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan.
Ron and Lana were forced to weather a number of storms during their Love Island stint, most of which were largely his fault, but they split up three months after leaving the villa.

“Lana and Ron really put everything into their romance and have tried to make things work for some time now. Unfortunately, they have decided to separate, which is a decision they have made amicably and of course, they still remain good friends,” a source told the MailOnline at the time.
“Commuting from Manchester to Essex and back again whenever they wanted to spend time together, as well as managing their work commitments just proved too difficult.”
Though you might think the failed relationship meant Lana’s entire time on Love Island was wasted, it now seems she was never on the ITV show to find love anyway.

Okay, so why did Lana actually go on Love Island?
You’d have to be incredibly naive to believe that every Love Island hopeful went on the show to actually find their match. Sure, in the earlier seasons this might have been the case, but following the undeniably successes of people like Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins, the promise of brand deals and a lavish influencer life is simply too hard to resist.
Each year the Love Island hopefuls attempt to maintain their inention of finding love, but for once, a former Islander has been brutally honest about their motivations for going on the show.
During a recent Q&A on Instagram, Lana was asked: “What surprised you the most about your time in the villa?”

Lana replied, “How hard work it was” followed by a string of laughing emojis, but I need more details. Though I don’t doubt the experience was stressful, infuriating, and tiring, what’s hard about lounging around in the sun and making out with ridicously hot people?
She then proudly revealed why she went on Love Island in the first place, explaining: “I was just after a free holiday and a cheeky flirt.”
Well, mission accomplished!
