Kaizer Chiefs suffer third straight defeat in Dutch pre-season tour

Kaizer Chiefs have lost their third pre-season match in a row after going 1-0 to NEC Nijmegen at Overasselt on Saturday afternoon.

Having lost 2-1 to Vitesse and 4-0 to FC Utrecht, Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi made changes to his team against Nijmegen.

Zitha Kwinika, Gaston Sirino, Samkelo Zwane, George Matlou, Tashreeq Morris, and Pule Momodi all got their first starts of the pre-season matches.

Despite putting in a spirited performance, Amakhosi eventually conceded a late goal to see the Dutch side emerge victorious.

What’s next for Kaizer Chiefs during the pre-season?

Having lost three matches, Nabi will surely notice that his team’s weakness is in defence.

Amakhosi have conceded seven goals in three matches so far in their pre-season tour. With two matches to go, the Tunisian coach need to find the right combination at the back.

In all the three matches, he started with Brandon Petersen in goals but the 30-year-old has looked shaky at times.

Are Kaizer Chiefs learning anything from their preseason?

The Glamour Boys have only scored once in 270 minutes of football since arriving in the Netherlands. New striker Flavio Silva has failed to fire in the games he played so far and looked unconvincing with the ball at his feet.

The good thing is that Nabi still has another six weeks to sort his team out. So far, only a handful of players have showed up during the pre-season matches.

Up next, Kaizer Chiefs will play PEC Zwolle on Tuesday before concluding their pre-season tour with a match against FC Twente.
