Right now, Lauren is at the centre of villa drama. But it turns out, Casa Amor bombshell Lauren has been on Love Island before. No, really. This isn’t the first time she’s been in the famous villa, and she’s had training with producers before. You know when people throw around the word “producer plant” and we all kind of dismiss it? It turns out it’s actually a thing.
A few of the Love Island 2025 cast members have been on TV before, but this is a step up. Lauren Wood was a “guinea pig” Islander – which I didn’t even know existed.
Apparently, they’re a set of people who go out to the villa, and pretend to be Islanders in a dry-run. They test the mics, camera angles and other production things. It’s basically training in how to be an Islander. Following this, she was “cherry picked” by producers to have a full go on the show.
A source told The Sun: “Lauren was one of the dry run Islanders but bosses loved her so guaranteed her a slot in Casa Amor. Fans will feel like she’s going in there as a producer plant as she’s been specially chosen and has the added advantage of having been among crew, in the villa, and knows how everything works.
“Certainly it’ll help her feel a bit more comfortable and confident. There’s been other Islanders in the past who went from a dry runner to full cast. 2023’s winner Sanam Harrinanan was part of the dry run cast and then went all the way.”

Following this, you might think she’d be fully clued up on being an Islander, and how the villa works. But, given the way her journey has gone so far, maybe the training didn’t actually help her out that much. Ahead of joining the show, Lauren said she had her eye on Harrison.
She added: “I will bring a lot of energy to Casa Amor. I’m just a bubbly person. I’m fun to be around and don’t take myself too seriously. Every boy I’ve ever met has said ‘you’re not what I thought’ in a good way. I’ve been told I’ve got good energy.”
