FlySafair reschedules flights ahead of potential pilot strike

FlySafair has announced schedule changes for several flights between Tuesday, 22 July and Monday, 28 July 2025, as it braces for potential strike action by its pilots.

The move follows a breakdown in wage negotiations between the airline and the trade union Solidarity.

While a strike has not been confirmed, FlySafair is taking preemptive steps to limit disruption to its operations and customers.

Flights rescheduled: What does it mean for travellers?

The potential strike comes after recent salary negotiations with the airline failed, when FlySafair and the Solidarity trade union hit a wall after three months of prolonged discussions.

The airline’s final offer, a 5.7 percent salary increase plus some additional compensation adjustments, was rejected by the vast majority of Solidarity members.

Speaking to BusinessTech, FlySafair Chief Marketing Officer Kirby Gordon said the adjustments affect only selected flights during the specified dates.

Affected customers will be contacted directly using the information provided during booking.

“We have no line of sight as to whether a strike will take place and if so, for how long and to what extent, but we’ve decided to act preemptively to ensure that any possible disruptions are minimised.” Gordon said, as per BusinessTech.

Customers are encouraged to visit the FlySafair website to check their booking status and, if needed, rebook onto alternative flights at no extra cost.
