Sophie Turner has opened up about her new film, admitting that it was ‘really weird’ to play lovers with her former Game of Thrones co-star.

The Sansa Stark actress, 69, is set to reunite with Kit Harington – who played her onscreen ‘sibling’, Jon Snow – in Gothic horror movie The Dreadful, which is set in the 15th century.

It follows Anne (Sophie), who exists on the outskirts of society during the War of the Roses when a mysterious man from their past returns into her life.

In a new video interview with Vogue Magazine, she shed light on the project further, and how it felt to appear opposite her castmate, 38, in a more romantic role.

‘I’ve got a few very exciting projects coming out,’ she told the camera. ‘I did a movie last year which I’m really excited about.

‘We’re doing a Gothic horror but we play lovers.

‘Sorry guys, it’s really weird for all of us.’

Game of Thrones ran for eight seasons between 2011 and 2019, with Lena Headey, Pdeter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams also among the star-studded cast.

Ned Stark (Sean Bean) served as head of the House Stark and shared daughter Sansa with wife Catelyn (Michelle Fairley).

However, he also fathered Jon Snow, meaning Sophie and Kit played half-siblings.

Despite the initial ‘weirdness’, the mom-of-two previously explained that she was actually the one to recommend Kit for a role on the Dreadful.

‘They were trying to find someone for that role, and I was like, “You can’t not have Kit,”’ she told the Times of working together once again.

‘It’s set around the time of the Wars of the Roses, so we’ll probably be floating about in robes on clifftops again.’

However, the romance plot was hard to swallow for some fans, who are more used to seeing the pair as family members on their screens.

Unpacking the first look at the film on Reddit, Incorrect-Opinion penned: ‘I might have a hard time, not seeing them as the Game of Thrones actors, especially considering they’re supposed to be related in the show.’

Watchman28 quipped: ‘Dude that’s your sister.’

Immediate_Concert_46 joked of the plot: ‘Could be canon ending to season 8.’

As GogoDogoLogo added: ‘Ewwww feels like incest. I can’t watch this!’
