Drag Race queens Monét X Change and Daya Betty are having a spot of drama after a podcast clip went viral, and Daya Betty saw the comments. Bob the Drag Queen and Monét X Change were discussing the pair of them’s worst guests on The Pit Stop, the Drag Race after show on YouTube that both the winners had hosted. After Bob said Vanjie, Monét said hers was Daya Betty – and now Daya Betty has clapped back at what Monét said on the podcast on HER own podcast. I’m aware that was a lot, but hope you’re keeping up because I’m about to explain it a lil bit more…
The initial comments
Bob dragged Vanjie’s behaviour somewhat in the comments they made regarding her appearance on The Pit Stop, but what Monét said about her worst guest – Daya Betty – was more logistical. She said Daya was her least favourite because Daya had dyed her hair and the dye was running down her face so they had to keep stopping to reshoot. However, after I covered the story here on The Tab – Daya Betty was unhappy learning what Monét X Change had said about her.
Daya decided to address this on her podcast with Acid Betty. Daya Betty explains how Acid had mentioned to her the comment was on Reddit, and Daya said she got in her feeling about it with a screenshot from texting Monét where she’d said she had such a good time shooting and that Monét had text back saying “you were great.”
Daya clapped back
Daya explained how doing The Pit Stop “I requested twice” to stop filming cause she could feel the red dye sweat running down her face when filming so she could dab it. She also said Monét stopped it because her earring fell off. Daya said she felt after they wrapped filming it was all good.
“Even though it was just the sweat, people are going to see the headline ‘Daya Betty was the hardest person to work with’. I’m a professional when it comes to my work setting. I show up, I do the job. For her to say something like that and it grabbing people’s attention.”
Daya Betty then showed a text where she’d reached out to Monét following The Tab article regarding the worst Drag Race Pit Stop guests – as per Bob and Monét. She said Monét text back and said “the clip was taken out of context” and it was “a joke” about the dye and all fun and shade and not mean spirited.
Daya then says “Girl, you know what you’re doing. You understand what people are going to see when they see this.”
