Police are said to be investigating MAFS UK, after it was claimed someone from the show was sexually assaulted by their partner whilst filming was taking place. The claim was made in June, but is reportedly regarding a “non-recent” incident.
According to The Sun, scenes with those involved have already aired on the Channel 4 show, and the channel has released a statement about the investigation. The incident is said to have taken place after the couple in question returned from their luxury honeymoon, after getting married.
A source said: “It’s a nightmare scenario for them [Channel 4]. The show’s been criticised for throwing strangers together and sending them on honeymoon for viewers’ entertainment. Now it’s alleged someone was assaulted after tying the knot. It is a disastrous look for bosses.”
Police confirmed the allegations, and that an investigation had been launched. “We received a report of a non-recent sexual assault on June 14,” a statement said. “Enquiries remain ongoing.”

Channel 4 has also spoken out. A spokesperson for the show told The Sun: “We are aware that a report has been made to police about an alleged sexual assault during the filming of a dinner party.
“We take any issues on the show incredibly seriously. Producers follow strict welfare protocols as the wellbeing of the cast is always the first priority. Support would be offered to anyone who wished to report a matter to the authorities, and naturally we would cooperate with any enquiries or investigations.”
This isn’t the first time the show has come under fire. During the last series of MAFS UK, it was revealed contestant Alex Henry had previous domestic abuse allegations against him, and there were calls for him to be removed from the show. Before this, groom Luke Worley was axed from the show following a physical fight with fellow groom, Jordan Gayle.
