Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) took drastic action in tonight’s Coronation Street as she fired one of her employees after a showdown at the Chariot Square Hotel.
Debbie didn’t hold back when faced with an unhappy customer early on in her shift, and was videoed shouting at her before storming off.
Fortunately, Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) was on hand to diffuse the situation, managing to persuade the customer to delete her recording of the incident.
When Ryan explained this to Debbie, she was thrilled, and kissed him on the lips in celebration.
This caught Ryan off-guard, and he wondered if her sudden affection had something to do with her dementia diagnosis.
Concerned, Ryan informed Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) of the situation, though before he could respond, Debbie interrupted.

As Ronnie quizzed her about it, she explained that it had just been a friendly gesture.
However, as Ryan admitted that he’d done some research into dementia, Debbie grew defensive and stormed off, leaving Ronnie promising Ryan that he’d try to talk to her.
True to his word, Ronnie fought Ryan’s corner with his fiancé, though Debbie made it clear where she stood.

She pointed out that she hadn’t wanted to tell anyone about the diagnosis in the first place because they would treat her like this, and though Ronnie argued that Ryan was only trying to help, she was still upset with him.
So much so that when he later attempted to apologise, Debbie told him to empty his locker and leave, firing him from his role.
Will she come round to his way of thinking and offer him his job back, or is Ryan going to have to find a new direction in life?
