Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) is on a mission in Emmerdale, as he remains determined next week to prove his distant brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) is bad news.

The character digs into village gossip and learns about the many times John has saved a resident’s life since he arrived. It seems too good to be true – but will anyone even believe Robert if he expresses his theory?

Also next week, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) continues with the grand plan, Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) plays matchmaker, and April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) is thrilled when she comes across friend Dylan (Fred Kettle) again.

Take a look at what’s ahead!

Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) are left seething when Joe warns that he’s determined to get their land for Kim Tate (Claire King).

Feeling smug, Joe heads back and tells Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) that it seems like the plan is in motion.

Meanwhile, Moira tells Kyle (Huey Quinn) and Isaac (Bobby Dunsmuir) that they aren’t losing their home. Once Moira leaves, the lads hear a noise, and decide to head off to investigate.

In a barn, Kyle and Isaac spot two masked teenagers. One of them is April’s friend Dylan and, in a blind panic, Kyle accidentally stabs Dylan’s leg with a pitchfork. Moira arrives and scares the boys away, while Cain solely blames Joe for the ordeal.

PC Swirling (Andy Moore) heads over to the farm but frustratingly, he can’t really do much. With her livelihood at risk, Moira lashes out but accidentally hits Lydia (Karen Blick) instead of Joe.

Elsewhere, an excited Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) head off to the hospital, while Mack goes to work on the farm. There, Mack bumps into Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and he urges his friend to talk about what’s on his mind.

Afterwards, Mack arrives at the clinic and Charity tells him the procedure went well. The family celebrate the development, but it means Mack misses his chance to express his feelings.

In the pub, Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is left with a decision to make when Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) asks her to revoke April’s apprenticeship. However, when April realises what her dad has done, she pleads her case, and eventually Marlon allows her to go ahead with it.

Also, Robert’s mind starts to whirl when Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) recounts stories of all the villagers John has saved.

Things go from bad to worse (Picture: ITV)

Kyle is horrified to find Swirling arresting Moira, who tells her in confidence that it’s not looking good for her case. In the pub a while later, things get heated between Cain and Sam (James Hooton).

April is talking to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and notices something in the bushes. Later, at Donna’s grave, April realises the person hiding in the bushes is Dylan. The teen reveals that he’s clean, and April is happy to have her friend back.

Kipping at the Pavilion, Dylan checks his leg that evening after being stabbed by Kyle, and things aren’t looking good.

Elsewhere, Robert voices his opinion that John is too good to be true to Chas (Lucy Pargeter), but she refuses to listen. When Robert notices John has left his phone, he tries to unlock it but when John then, Robert gives him the device. John later voices his concerns to Chas, but she thinks that Robert is just jealous.

Also, Aaron urges Mack to discuss his surrogacy concerns with Charity. Charity starts to feel smothered by Sarah and Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant), prompting her to voice her worries to Mackenzie. But will he give his opinion as well?

Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) tries to persuade Robert to get some help but when he refuses, John agrees to ask Liam (Jonny McPherson) to check on him. On his own, John sneaks into Vic’s and plants a listening device, allowing him to hear the chat Robert has with Liam.

He feels buoyed to finally have some dirt on his brother – but what has John heard?

Also, Cain gives Sam an ultimatum and makes him pick between the Tates and Dingles.

Elsewhere, Dylan and April plan a date but Ray (Joe Absolom) arrives, causing Dylan to scarper. Will he come clean to April?

Ross (Michael Parr) is intrigued to hear that John has some new information about Robert. Dylan refuses to open up, while Cain receives a call from Moira, who reveals news about the break-in.

Also, Lewis learns about Ross’ relationship with Steph (Georgia Jay) and becomes determined to reunite the pair. Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) is also impressed with him, as he gets to work building an app for the café.

Friday, August 1

Things go from bad to worse for Robert, while Dylan is still in a bad way.

Also, Celia (Jaye Griffiths) is annoyed with Kim for raising the rent, but will she retaliate?
