South Africa’s Tete Dijana has claimed his third ‘down run’ victory in the Comrades Marathon.
Dijana, 37, won the race in 2022 and 2023.
Dijana stopped the clock in an unofficial time of 5:25:28, with Dutchman Piet Wiersma second in 5:25:33.
Russian Nikolai Volkov completed the podium in third place in 5:29:42.
The iconic race got underway at 05:30 on Sunday at the City Hall in Pietermaritzburg and will finish at People’s Park outside Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
This year’s race, the 98th of all time, covered 89.98km.
