Updated World Rankings after July Tests: Springboks lose ground

The Springboks’ gap at the top of the latest world rankings has been cut substantially.

Big changes have taken place in the latest world rankings following the July Tests.

The Springboks have maintained top spot. However, their gap at the top has been cut to just 0.72 points. Meanwhile, there has been plenty of movement in the top 10.

SPRINBOKS MAINTAIN TOP SPOT AS ALL BLACKS CLOSE IN

The Springboks sit on 92.78 points at the top of the world rankings.

South Africa hosted the Azzuri in two Test matches at home (at Loftus and in Qgerberha) before hosting the Georgians at the Mbombela Stadium.

So, they could not add to their points tally due to facing sides ranked well below them. Italy are ranked 10th, with Georgia sitting 11th in the world rankings.

However, the All Blacks were able to gain points in July. New Zealand hosted France in a three-match Test series which they won 3-0. In the process, the All Blacks gained 1.70 points over the three Test matches to go from 90.36 points to 92.06.

OTHER BIG MOVERS

Argentina has dropped from fifth to seventh.

Meanwhile, the English have risen to fifth place after defeating them in both Tests in Argentina. The Aussies sit in sixth place with Scotland dropping to eighth. Fiji (9th) and Italy (10th) round off the top 10.
