NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – An Aiken County man has been arrested after a stand off with police on Friday morning.
According to authorities, investigators were looking into unconfirmed reports of shots fired near West Avenue.
Authorities state that this began as a civil matter between a man and his girlfriend when the man went inside a house on West Clifton Avenue and fired several shots.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, North Augusta Public Safety Department, and SWAT were the agencies on the scene.
Authorities say the woman was able to eventually get out of the home, but the man stayed inside.
According to authorities, a SWAT team was sent in to apprehend the man, and he was brought out and taken into custody.
No injuries have been reported.
