Manchester United may be forced to act as West Ham have reportedly made a bid for one of Ruben Amorim’s transfer targets.

The Red Devils have so far signed three players this summer – Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon – and are now prioritising a new striker.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko appears to be their top target, though it is said Amorim would prefer to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.

United have also been tipped to sign a new goalkeeper this window given the unconvincing form of Andre Onana since his £47million move two years ago.

Additionally, the Cameroon international will miss all of pre-season due to a hamstring injury and faces a race against time to be fit for the first Premier League game of the season against Arsenal on August 17.

A number of keepers have been linked with Old Trafford including Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Newcastle’s Nick Pope and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens.

John Victor is another name United have been monitoring following his impressive performances for Brazilian side Botafogo at the Club World Cup.

However, West Ham, Everton and Galatasaray are also all interested in the 29-year-old, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Irons have moved first, submitting a £7m bid.

It remains to be seen whether this offer will be accepted but if United are still keen on Victor they would do well to joining the bidding war as soon as possible.

The Brazilian delivered standout performances at the Club World Cup, helped Botafogo win Serie A and the Copa Libertadores last year and was named in the team of the tournament for both those competitions.

In Onana’s absence, Altay Bayindir and veteran Tom Heaton have played in goal for United but neither can be considered a long-term No.1 option.

‘United need a new keeper’

Legendary Red Devils captain Gary Neville believes the club need at least two more signings this summer and one should be a goalkeeper.

‘I think the two signings [Cunha and Mbeumo] are good signings, yet there’s a couple more needed,’ the former right-back said.

‘I think they need a goalkeeper, and if they fill those two positions with decent signings, then United can have a lot, I mean, they have to have a better season than last year. It can’t get any worse, really.’
