So, there’s a new viral saga in town that’s hit social media as far as the US – and it’s extra wild considering it all went down about 10 minutes walk from where I’m currently writing this. A rare occurrence, if I’m being honest. There have been numerous videos of a girl we know only as the pink jacket girl causing absolute mayhem in Manchester Arndale shopping centre, and the videos of her pandemonium just keep coming. The original video on Twitter now has gone viral with over 14 million views – and it’s of course soundtracked by nothing beats a Jet2 holiday. What else would you expect? Here’s what we actually know about the pink jacket girl in the Manchester Arndale and all the chaos that erupted.
This is a fever dream
The video shows the now infamous pink jacket girl climbing up on the escalator and sliding down it as staff chase after her, before vaulting over to the other side and legging it back up to the first floor of the shopping centre. She is then confronted by some people up there where she starts pulling the girl’s hair, and then nonchalantly riding back down again. It’s literally giving cartoon caper as she tries to flee the staff.
There’s then a second video where she’s getting confronted on the ground floor again. You can see the full videos in a thread on X here.
We did get some insight from allegedly what happened via a TikTok comment that tried to explain the context of the viral pink jacket girl in the Manchester Arndale.
It’s currently not clear what happened, but a TikTok comment shown in the viral thread alleges “girl stole a four [pound] watch from Claire’s and her mum took the watch from her. The mum put it inside of her bag cause she didn’t want her daughter to get in trouble and that group of women over there snitched and told the police and while the mum was being taken downstairs the daughter went up to the girls who snitched and were laughing at her and grabbed them by the hair in response to them snitching and then laughing at her mother which clearly she was having none of.”
