After decades of sizzling steaks, birthday songs, and family memories, the Seven Spur in Sea Point – one of the most beloved branches of the Spur steakhouse franchise – is set to close its doors in mid-August.
The restaurant, which holds a special place in Cape Town’s dining scene as the second-ever Spur branch to open, announced its temporary closure via Facebook this week, describing the decision as bittersweet but not final.
“We’re closing our doors here, but this isn’t goodbye,” Spur’s statement read.
“We’re searching for a new home for Seven Spur – one that will capture the same spirit, flavour, and family feeling that made this spot so special.”
A Call for Memories
As part of its farewell, the Seven Spur team is inviting loyal customers to share their favourite memories and stories from the Sea Point location – be it family dinners, birthday celebrations, or first dates.
“We want to hear from everyone who has ever dined here, shared a laugh, or made a memory with us,” the post read, encouraging patrons to join the online tribute by commenting and sharing photos.
The outpouring of nostalgia and emotion has already begun, with long-time customers recalling the ocean views, friendly staff, and the warm, familiar atmosphere that defined the eatery for generations.
A Temporary Goodbye
Though the doors will soon close, Spur has confirmed that this is not the end of the road for the Sea Point favourite.
Once a new location is secured, Seven Spur promises to make a comeback.
