Milwaukee-based burger chain George Webb gives away free burgers whenever the Milwaukee Brewers go on a 12-game winning streak.
The deal has been a fan favorite, and one fan got so hyped, they called 911 to report their local George Webb’s didn’t have his free burger after the Brewers beat the Pirates to win their 12th game in a row.’
Local TV news station WISN 12 obtained police dispatch audio from Brookfield, a Milwaukee suburb, of a caller who complained they didn’t get their famous free burger.
The dispatcher can be heard saying they “called 911 because they won’t give him his free burgers for the Brewers game today. He was advised the game wasn’t over yet. Not sure if the subject is standing by.”
The fan called the police on Aug. 13, 2025 after the Brewers clobbered the Pirates 12-5, sweeping the three-game series. The team beat the Pittsburgh’s best 14-0 the day before and 7-1 before that.
George Webb Restaurants has been giving away free burgers whenever the Brewers win 12 games in a row since for over half a century.
“Back in the 1940s, George Webb boldly predicted a 12-game winning streak for Milwaukee’s team—first the Braves and later the Brewers—and famously said the city deserved a free burger if it ever happened,” the company’s website states. “He didn’t promise it outright—but here in Milwaukee, promises are kept.”
George Webb took notice, posting to Facebook announcing free burgers are on the way.
Commenters were ecstatic about the deal too.
“Makes me want to fly home to Milwaukee,” one said.
Another said Webb should be memorialized: “Webbs should have a spot at the ballpark!!!! Thanks George!!!”
And, of course Midwest nice made an appearance: “Be sure to TIP THE WORKERS/COOKS!”
This is also only the third time George Webb has had to pay, or burger, up.
The first time came in 1987 when George Webb gave out 168,000 free burgers when the Brewers opened the season with 13 straight wins.
The second came in 2018 when the restaurant gave out 90,000 free burgers and 100,000 redeemable vouchers.
The hangry fan who called the cops after the third time Milwaukee’s Brewers made the feat will have to wait just a little longer though.
George Webb’s announced free burgers will arrive on Aug. 20, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at all 23 locations throughout Wisconsin.
