It’s hard to imagine that even Seth Rogen, star and co-creator of The Studio, could envision the fan reaction and the eventual award honors the show received. However, after earning high marks from fans and critics, the Apple TV+ series went on to pull in an exceptional 23 Emmy nominations following its debut season.
Rogen recently discussed the show and the love it received in the form of Emmy nominations on The Awardist podcast, admitting that it’s a “new” feeling for him.
“It’s not something I’m used to at all,” he says, via Entertainment Weekly, followed by his signature — and infectious — raspy chuckle. “It’s new for me, and it’s not something I ever expect because it’s not something that ever happens.”

While Rogen’s phone was surely lighting up following the Emmy nomination announcement, he revealed that it was the magnitude of one message he received, from iconic director Steven Spielberg, that really struck him.
“It’s things like that, that are completely mind-blowing to me,” he says. “And as someone who grew up loving movies and still is amazed I get to work in this field, it is not lost on me how crazy that is and how cool it is. It blows my mind every time.”
It’s fair to assume that while Rogen’s congratulatory messages about The Studio likely featured many high-level, A-list celebrities, receiving one from Spielberg would make anyone do a double-take.
Seth Rogen’s ‘The Studio’ Continues to Earn High Praise From Critics & Fans
Not only did The Studio come out of the gate red-hot in terms of the critic and fan reviews that poured in, but it also remained that way throughout Season 1.
The Studio was dubbed “certified fresh” by Rotten Tomatoes, picking up a stellar critics’ score of 93 percent. The fan rating was also strong, landing at 76 percent, based on more than 1,000 verified reviews. The Studio’s highest praise during Season 1 may have come on social media, as fans showed plenty of love to the cast, its high-level cameos and series as a whole.
Arguably, the most impressive part of The Studio was Rogen and company’s ability to pull in exceptionally big names for cameos. This includes the likes of Martin Scorsese, Anthony Mackie, Dave Franco, Zac Efron, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Kravitz, Ron Howard, Peter Berg and many others.
It’s all set the stage for a Season 2 of The Studio that comes with high expectations and plenty of excitement. Season 2 is expected to arrive in 2026, but there’s been no official announcement on the release date yet.
