Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Burnley will come too soon for Destiny Udogie, but Yves Bissouma will return to Thomas Frank’s squad.
Udogie has missed much of Tottenham’s pre-season after sustaining a knee injury in the warm-up to their clash with Luton Town in late July.
The Italian full-back made 24 starts for Tottenham last season and was watching from the stands as his side lost narrowly to Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup.
But despite stepping up his recovery, Frank confirmed that Udogie won’t be able to play a part in their opening league game at home against Burnley.
‘Every player who was available [on Wednesday] is available for the team,’ the Dane confirmed at his pre-match press conference.

‘Destiny [Udogie] is progressing but it’s too early for him to be involved in the squad.’
There will, however, be a return to the matchday squad for Bissouma, who missed out on the Super Cup due to disciplinarary issues.

‘Bissouma was a situation. I addressed it, there was a consequence. He will be in the squad tomorrow,’ Frank said.
While Frank’s focus will be on Saturday’s league opener, behind the scenes Tottenham are still looking to make additions to bolster their squad.
The north London club have opened talks with Crystal Palace for attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, but Frank said Spurs are looking to strengthen in more than just the No10 position.
‘We are looking of course in the market,’ he said.
‘Not only for 10 position but just to see if we can strengthen the squad. The players we are looking [at] are only players we think can improve the squad.
‘That’s the right thing we want to do. If we can pick the right player and it fits, then we will do something.’
