People think they found the Ethel Cain tweet that upset Lana Del Rey and caused the beef

The latest advancement in the Ethel Cain and Lana Del Rey beef just landed – and this is because people now think they’ve dug up the original tweet that caused all this drama in the first place. In case you need a bit of a rundown catching up, it all erupted between Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain last week after Lana posted a video teasing her new song, heavily rumoured to be named All About Ethel, in which she started singing the lyrics “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post”. Ethel then shared that Lana had blocked her on Instagram, and what followed was a brief but chaotic saga of people piecing together what they think might have gone down between the pair. Now people think they’ve found the post from Ethel Cain that upset Lana Del Rey in the first place – and it’s all getting messy again.

Lana’s comment last week gave a bit more insight

During the beef kicking off last week, Lana Del Rey left a comment about what had gone down between her and Ethel Cain and said that there was a post regarding ‘cartoon characters’ that was an implication about her weight. Lana wrote: “I didn’t know who Ethel was until a few years ago — when someone brought to my attention the disturbing and graphic side-by-side images she would often put up of me next to unflattering creatures and cartoon characters making constant comments about my weight, I was confused at what she was getting at. Then when I heard what she was saying behind closed doors from mutual friends and started inserting herself into my personal life I was definitely disturbed.”

Nobody could really recall what the post was that Ethel Cain had allegedly made about Lana Del Rey that had upset her, but after some digging people think they’ve unearthed it.

On Ethel Cain’s deleted Twitter, an old screenshot allegedly from the account which has Peter Griffin dancing to Madonna’s Ray of Light was tweeted – alongside the Lana Del Rey lyrics “hands on your knees, I’m Angelina Jolie”. These come from Lana’s song Peppers on her 2023 record Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.

Albeit, it seems like a reach to instantly think this is worthy of all the drama since if this was tweeted by Ethel Cain, she never named Lana Del Rey and the spirit of the meme is just dancing rather than any sort of mocking of weight.

The tweet accusing this of being the reason Lana Del Rey got upset has over 54,000 likes on Twitter now – but it’s all just rumours. Considering Peppers didn’t come out until 2023 and the Ethel Cain diss track was apparently recorded in 2022, it doesn’t seem very concrete.

However, try telling that to Twitter.
