Confirmed: Who will sing SA anthem before Springbok game in CT

Last weekend, Lloyd Cele delivered a rousing rendition of the SA anthem, and as always, there will be great interest from fans to know who will have the honour of singing Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika before the Springboks’ Test in Cape Town this Saturday (kick off at 17:10).

There is huge responsibility on the shoulders of the Springboks to produce a much-improved performance this weekend, and the SA anthem will undoubtedly set the tone for an all-important match, as well as serve to get the crowd readily involved.

It’s now been confirmed to TheSouthAfrican that Talitha Luiters will sing the SA anthem at Cape Town Stadium.

Hailing from Atlantis in the Western Cape, Luiters has been performing since she was a young child. Her powerful voice and versatility across genres, including R&B, jazz, and rock ‘n roll, which has made her a notable talent in the South African music scene.

Luiters started singing at the age of three and had her first television appearance on the SABC show Expresso in 2017. By the age of nine, she had already won several singing competitions in the Western Cape.

As a teenager, she collaborated with established South African artists, and when she was 12 she joined the group Nu Fancy alongside Emo Adams, Alistair Izobell, and Luqmaan Adams. She has also performed with singers like Amy Jones and Jarrad Ricketts.

Luiters has performed on numerous stages, including the Sun Arena at the Lexus Pop Classics 2023, where she performed a rendition of “All By Myself.” She has also performed at events like the “Afrikaans is 100 Jaar” concert and has been featured in a tribute show to Whitney Houston and Tina Turner.

In addition to her live performances, Luiters has been involved in other projects, such as providing vocals for a recent Spur advertising campaign and releasing music, including a collaboration with Che-V titled “I Just Don’t Care.”

SA anthem to set the stage for Springboks in Cape Town

Meanwhile, the Australian anthem will be performed by another well-known artist, Jimmy Nevis, a singer, songwriter, and producer from Athlone, Cape Town.

He became a well-known name in the South African music scene in 2012 with his hit single “Elephant Shoes,” which he wrote and produced after deciding to pursue music full-time.
