A 39-year-old Michigan man bought two winning lottery tickets in one day, turning a relatively minor win into a financial windfall, according to a press release from Michigan Lottery officials.
The winner, whose identity has not been publicly revealed, purchased a winning Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast-Cash ticket which earned him a cool $300. Emboldened by his luck, the man then purchased another lottery ticket at a different gas station, the Exit 76—Meadowbrook located on Town Center Court Southeast in Grand Rapids. To his eternal shock, the second ticket boasted a winning number roughly two thousand times greater than his first ticket.
“I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and started shaking when I saw I’d won $714,891,” he marveled. “The first thing I did was walk over and give the cashier a hug!”
The man recently claimed his winnings in a single lump sum from state lottery officials, who declined to note exactly how much he took home after state and federal tax withholdings. Undoubtedly, it’s more money than the lucky winner ever dreamed of winning in one go. He’s planning to use the winnings to pay bills and supplement his children’s college funds. Whatever is left over will go into savings.
Fast-Cash is advertised as “a progressive jackpot that can be won instantly,” with tickets that range in price from $2 to $30. “All of the Fast Cash games feed into one jackpot, which grows with every ticket purchased,” according to lottery officials. The jackpot can be won at any time, with a new jackpot beginning immediately after the previous one is won.
