A body has been found after a huge community search for a vulnerable but ‘gentle’ man.
Shahab Uddin, 40, was last seen nine days ago and was reported missing by his family after he vanished in the early hours of Wednesday, 13 August.
Shahab was well known in the Loughborough area and hundreds of volunteers joined the search using drones to search countryside surrounding Quorn.
Fears grew with Shahab described as vulnerable, having learning difficulties and being reliant on medication and had left his phone behind.
On Thursday, officers announced they had found his body in an area near to the A6, by the One Ash roundabout in Loughborough.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing.
Det Insp Jonathan Dickens, from the force’s Missing From Home team, said: ‘Sadly we have found a body in the search for Mr Uddin.

‘Thank you to everyone who has continued to support Mr Uddin’s family and ourselves during the search and who has provided information during the investigation. Our enquiries remain ongoing and we will provide further updates when we are able to.’
Tributes were paid to the ‘gentle man’ who is regularly seen walking around town with headphones on.
One said: ‘So sad, he was a lovely lad and often chatted with him in the library, thinking of family and friends at this sad time.’
One local added: ‘The worst possible outcome. Goodness knows what happened to you Shahab, I’m sorry the innocence and naivety you carried in your heart didn’t extend far enough to lead you back to your family. I do believe it’s more than enough to carry you home to eternal peace.’
Another said: ‘Gentle man Shahab will be sorely missed. I’m sure his family will be incredibly grateful for the love and care everyone showed in the communities.’
Shahab’s brother-in-law, Chowhan Chowdury, said when he vanished: ‘The whole family, we’re just absolutely broken.
‘It’s very unusual, and he’s very vulnerable because he has learning difficulties.
‘Every day he’ll go out to town, talk to everyone, he’s very friendly.”
‘The response we’ve got from the community is absolutely amazing, there’s a lot of people who know him, everyone is coming out to search for him.’
