The Thursday Murder Club writer Richard Osman is the man of the moment, but his partner in crime stole the limelight this week.

The 54-year-old author, TV producer and presenter was in London’s Leicester Square on Thursday (appropriately enough) for the star-studded film adaptation of his murder mystery books.

He was joined by his wife Ingrid Oliver, 48, at the glitzy event as she beamed next to him in a stunning floor length dress.

It was a night to celebrate for her too, as she plays Joanna Meadowcroft – the daughter of Celia Imrie’s character Joyce – in the new movie, which will have a short cinema run before being released on Netflix on August 28.

The couple have had a magical whirlwind romance, having only met five years ago.

Let’s explore their relationship, low key marriage and what we know about Richard’s notoriously private life.

Who is Richard Osman’s wife, Ingrid Oliver?

Ingrid Oliver is an actress known for her roles in the likes of Doctor Who and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

Richard previously revealed how he ‘pined’ after her for over a year, having been aware of her on social media and sharing a ‘single tweet’ between them.

In 2020, he asked mutual friend Lou Sanders if she was single (‘she wasn’t), but things took a turn a year later.

‘Twelve months later, in 2021, Ingrid was a guest on my quiz show House of Games,’ he told the Sunday Times.

‘This time Lou told me Ingrid was available, so I spent a long day in front of the cameras desperately trying not to flirt. I made eye contact less with her than any other guest ever.’

The following year, in 2022, they tied the knot as Richard described their wedding as the ‘most magical, joyful day’ surrounded by their loved ones.

Does Richard Osman have children?

Richard has two grown-up children from his first marriage, which ended in divorce in 2007.

He’s always been tight-lipped about his first wife’s identity, and their breakup.

He previously told The Guardian: ‘It’s not my story, if you know what I mean. It’s nothing grim; it’s just her privacy.’

Who is Richard Osman’s famous brother?

Richard isn’t the only famous face in his family!

Like his sibling, Bret has also explored the world of literature, releasing his first novel The Ruins in 2020.

His second book, The Ghost theatre, dropped in 2023, while he also co-wrote England on Fire with Stephen Ellcock.

Why did Richard Osman leave Pointless and what’s he done since?

After years working as an executive producer on programmes for the likes of Hat Trick Productions and Endemol UK, Richard stepped in front of the camera in 2009.

Over the years, he worked behind the scenes on the likes of 8 Out of 10 Cats, Total Wipeout and Prize Island, having created the latter for ITV.

He’s also appeared on the likes of Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Too, Have I got News For You, Would I Lie To You, QI, Taskmaster, The Last Leg, Not Going Out and more.

How many Thursday Murder Club books has he written?

So far, Richard has released four books in The Thursday Murder Club series, including the 2020 debut of the same name.

He followed that up with The Man Who Died Twice (2021), The Bullet That Missed (2022) and The Last Devil to Die (2023).

The fifth book in the series, The Impossible Fortune, will hit shelves on September 25, 2025.

How tall is Richard Osman?

Richard stands at 6’7″, and it’s no surprise he’s become recognisable for his towering stature.

However, the star has admitted that he used to feel ‘awful’ about his height.

‘I always sort of did ok in that area. I was quite shy. And I was always funny and people like that,’ he told Gyles Brandreth’s Rosebud podcast. ‘I felt awful about being tall, and actually people like that. If you’re funny and you’re tall and you’ve got a bit about you.’
