David Corenswet’s Perfect Superman Audition Has Gone Viral – Bundlezy

David Corenswet’s Perfect Superman Audition Has Gone Viral

There are a lot of solid actors who have tugged on the blue tights, red boots, cape, and (sometimes) trunks that define the character of Superman. But, as true fans know, the difference between a good Superman and a great Superman is the way the actor portrays the alter ego of Clark Kent. And in a newly released, now-viral video, David Corenswet’s Supermanaudition proves that the actor nailed that specific goal right out of the gate.

Now that Superman is available for purchase for VOD or rental on several major digital outlets, a steady stream of special features has been hitting the internet, including a new widely shared, raw audition tape featuring Corenswet performing a very specific scene from the new Superman movie, in his very first audition for the role.

David Corenswet’s Superman Audition Tape

“I’m David Corenswet and I’m 6’4″,” the actor says unassumingly at the beginning of the tape. Then, we see him, in a suit and tie, rocking glasses, and an overall vibe that screams Christopher Reeve. But, quickly, because of the nature of the scene, Corenswet reveals his specific take on the role: quirky, sweet, but with the ability to get angry very quickly.

The scene is a familiar one for those who have seen even one of the trailers for the film; in it, Lois Lane is doing a practice interview with Superman, grilling him on intervening in a war between two countries. The dialogue is a little different in the audition than in the final film, but what’s striking is that Corenswet’s performance is almost identical to the finished product. He’s not just trying to imitate Christopher Reeve or Henry Cavill; he’s bringing something fresh and breezy to the part. Clearly, this guy was perfect for this specific version of Supe, right away.

Superman sequel release date

While it hasn’t been 100 percent confirmed, David Corenswet’s Superman is expected to appear in next year’s next big DC movie, Supergirl. After Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) crashed the Fortress of Solitude at the end of Superman, it’s only a matter of time before these cousins team up again.

Superman is currently in theaters and available for purchase on demand.
