Halloween is still a couple of months away and yet details for Fortnite’s yearly autumn event are already popping up online.
It’s not even September, let alone October, and yet details regarding Fortnite’s annual Halloween event – Fortnitemares – are already leaking online thanks to dataminers.
Epic Games itself has yet to share anything official about this year’s Fortnitemares (since it’s still too early), and is currently promoting the addition of virtual band Gorillaz, to both the main battle royale and Fortnite Festival mode.
Fortnitemares is the perfect time for Epic to add horror themed crossovers, having used it in the past to release skins for characters like Michael Myers and Leatherface, and it looks like that trend’s set to continue.
All Fortnitemares 2025 skins leaked so far
Earlier today, known Fortnite dataminer ShiinaBR found evidence of Jason Vorhees from the Friday The 13th movies appearing in the game, via a medallion with this iconic hockey mask on it.
As a reminder, medallions in Fortnite are earned by killing boss characters you can encounter on the island. Hopefully, he won’t just be standing in one place and, like the movies, will stalk the island while posing as a threat to everyone.

It’s not unreasonable to assume that Jason will be a skin as well, either as a reward for killing him or as a purchasable cosmetic in the item shop. Frankly, it’s surprising he hasn’t been added sooner.
He’s not the only horror movie icon planned for the event either. Earlier this month, ShiinaBR also claimed that a new mythic item will be added that turns you into Ghostface from the Scream movies; one that comes with its own ‘jump scare’ mechanic.
Again, though there’s no mention of a dedicated skin, there’ll most certainly be one for Ghostface, since this has been the case with similar transformative items, like the one that turns you into Superman.
Amusingly, accompanying these deranged serial killers is an alleged Scooby-Doo crossover. This is according to another Fortnite insider called SamLeaks, who claims that Scooby’s best friend Shaggy will make an appearance, potentially during Fortnitemares and with multiple skins.
It’d be weird to see Shaggy make it in without Scooby himself, although it’s not unprecedented. Shaggy and Velma both made playable appearances in fighting game MultiVersus, while Scooby remained MIA, though he might have made it in eventually if the game hadn’t shut down earlier this year.
Coincidentally enough, Jason was in that game too, so Fortnite won’t be the first time he’s had the opportunity to butcher Shaggy with a machete.
With all these horror movie icons making it into Fortnite, the only big omission is Freddy Krueger from Nightmare On Elm Street. We don’t doubt Epic has at least tried to get him in, so maybe it’s still sorting a licensing deal out.
Fortnitemares 2025 doesn’t have an official start date yet, but if it’s anything like last year, you can expect it to kick off around early or mid-October and last throughout the rest of the month.
