British Indie band The Ultra Violets have announced that their bandmate, drummer Tyler Harris, has died.

‘This is something we never thought we’d have to write,’ the Indie group wrote in a devastating post on social media.

‘But our beloved Tyler, a son, a brother, an uncle, a partner, our friend and our heartbeat has tragically passed away.’

They added that they would be stepping back for a while to grieve: ‘We hope you can respect our privacy at this difficult time. We will be taking some time out to process this.

‘Tyler we love you with all our hearts, play that kit loud up there won’t you.’

The message came from the band’s singers, Perran Nicholls and Marc Willoughby, and bass artist Adam Knucky.

The news comes just weeks after the group performed at the Isle of Wight festival and Boardmasters in Cornwall, with hordes of fans commenting with their support during this tough time.

The Ultra Violets Instagram Thank you all for the love and support, it?s been the hardest few days ever! Tyler wouldn?t believe how much love he?s got right now a love I wish he was here to see, he really was the kindest and funniest soul around. Thanks you again everyone keep sharing his memory

After receiving support from fans, the group added that it had been the ‘hardest’ few days since his death.

The group had a busy summer with various festival performances, they had even mentioned earlier in the year that they were seeing so much more success this year, after many years of ‘grafting’.

‘We had one inspiring meeting on video call last night … after years of grafting in this band, it seems it’s all gonna be just fine.

‘Get ready to see a lot more of us,’ read the post.
