Netflix’s teen drama My Life with the Walter Boys is finally back today for season two after fans had to wait nearly two years for the Silver Falls romance to return.
For those suffering through the agonising week-long waits between The Summer I Turned Pretty episodes, this could be the ticket with another love triangle to keep viewers divided.
Based on Ali Novak’s 2014 novel of the same name and from the same team who brought us (for better or worse) The Kissing Booth, the Netflix show is set around 15-year-old Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez).
After the death of her parents, Jackie moved across the country from New York to Colorado to live with her mother’s best friend at her sprawling family ranch, with the 10 Walter children: seven boys, one girl and two nephews.
Now this second instalment still finds her grappling with identity, college hopes and burgeoning feelings for two of the Walter boys she’s living with.

There’s unassuming Alex (Ashby Gentry) and troubled former quarterback Cole (Noah LaLonde) – who Jackie was so muddled over at the end of the last season that she fled Silver Falls to head back to New York.

Show creator Melanie Halsall has promised that this second season will be ‘bigger and better’, as Jackie still struggles to make a decision between the boys, all while trying to pursue her dream of getting into Princeton.
Halsall told Netflix’s Tudum: ‘We’ve got massive set pieces in each episode, and the stories are more intricate.
‘The actors really understand their characters now. When I was coming back, I was excited to start shooting again because I knew we had great stories to tell.’
While the show only scored a rating of 42% on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, amid criticism the show was a collection of clichés, Netflix subscribers tuned in nonetheless and have even said it’s ‘enjoyably trashy’.
Sharing their reviews of the Netflix show on IMDb, @marian_91 said the show was ‘Cringey and cliché, but binge-worthy!’ while @meemsyd labelled the series: ‘Stupid but weirdly enjoyable, classic trashy drama.’

They added: ‘This was basically a hate watch for most of the viewing experience, but by the end I was all in for a second season. So despite the people who made this making some of the wackiest decisions ever, I applaud them for subverting my expectations for the main characters by the end, and making me feel invested.’
‘This is an easy show to watch when you want something entertaining and not too intense,’ said @LovesMovies_ adding that it reminded them of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
Those who are already in on My Life with the Walter Boys will be pleased to know that the show has already been greenlit for a third season on Netflix.
My Life with the Walter Boys is available to stream now on Netflix.
