Updated rankings: Springboks rise, EIGHT changes at the top

Here are the latest World Rugby Rankings after this weekend’s action.

The Springboks have climbed back up the latest World Rankings after their 30-22 victory over Australia at the DHL Stadium.

Meanwhile, New Zealand have lost ground following their shock 29-23 loss against Argentina.

There have also been several changes to the top 20 after this weekend’s action.

SPRINGBOKS CLIMB UP, ALL BLACKS LOSE GROUND

The Springboks have climbed up from third up to second in the latest Rugby World Rankings following round two of the Rugby Championship.

The Boks returned to winning ways after beating the Wallabies 30-22. Thereafter, the All Blacks were stunned by a buoyant Los Pumas side who beat them 29-23 in Argentina. As a result, New Zealand’s gap at the top has been cut to just 0.71 points. Currently, NZ sit on 90.72 points with the Springboks breathing down their necks on 90.01 points.

BIG CHANGES TO THE TOP 20

In addition to the Springboks leapfrogging Ireland, several changes to the top 20 took place over the weekend. Japan rose from 14th to 13th, with Samoa dropping down to 14th. Uruguay has climbed up to 16th (they were 17th), Tonga has climbed up to 17th (from 19th), USA dropped from 16th to 18th and Portugal dropped from 18th to 19th.
