Once the Doctor, always the Doctor and no one understands that better than former star Matt Smith, who is still haunted by one question.
The Doctor Who actor, 42, starred as the 11th iteration of the travelling Time Lord from 2010 to 2013, with his final appearance in Peter Capaldi’s first episode as the 12th Doctor in 2014, Deep Breath.
Although the screen star has gone on to make a name for himself in iconic shows like The Crown and House of the Dragon, he regards that time of his life with ‘great affection’ with plenty of love for the devoted fans.
Nonetheless, over a decade on from his time in the Whoniverse, even Matt has one thing he is tired of hearing wherever he goes.
When asked by Heart Evening Show host Dev Griffin, which question he wants people to ‘stop asking’, he had an immediate reply.

‘I get a lot – it’s not please stop asking me – but, like, at airports, I always get, “Didn’t you bring your TARDIS?” [the Doctor’s time and space travelling machine for those not in the know].

He continued: ‘No, mate. I didn’t. Because if I did, I wouldn’t be queuing up, you know, having to get my laptop out while you look at it for no apparent reason and, like, check my shoes for God knows what,’ you know?
”And if I did bring my TARDIS, then yeah, I certainly wouldn’t be queuing up to get through your metal detecting machine. So please stop asking me!’
The British actor is no stranger to being associated with an iconic franchise, whether it’s a Game of Thrones spin-off as Daemon Targaryen, Sony’s Spider-Man universe as Milo or, as made crystal clear, Doctor Who itself.
But there’s one classic British series Matt has made clear he has no interest in getting involved in – the new HBO remake of Harry Potter.
After being tipped as one of the potentials to star as Lord Voldemort in the series (the role will reportedly be revealed when the show comes out in 2027), he completely ruled it out.

‘No, no, no. I mean can anyone play it after Ralph? He was so good,’ he told NBC News about whether he would go for it.
When pushed about whether he would accept if offered, he added: ‘Hypothetically, who knows? But following in the footsteps of the great Ralph Fiennes is a very difficult mantle for someone, so good luck whoever it is. It ain’t gonna be me.’
The actor most recently starred as Russ in Caught Stealing opposite Austin Butler and Regina King.
The movie follows a man who gets caught up in the dangerous underbelly of 1990s New York after agreeing to watch his neighbours’ cat for a few days.
