Why We Love This Deal

Having a reliable body weight scale is every bit as essential as owning comfortable running shoes, whether the aim is to track the effects of cutting Doritos or your new fitness journey. And right now, Walmart has a killer deal on a scale I’ve personally used and swear by.

The Renpho Digital Body Weight Scale is on sale for $18, 50% off the normal $36 price at Walmart right now. You can get the wood and blue colors at an even lower price than what’s being offered on Amazon, where I bought mine.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Size: 10.2-by-10.2 inches
  • Color Options: Walmart offers the Wooden and Blue Gradient styles.
  • Weight Limit: 400 pounds
  • Power: 2xAAA battery (included)
  • Surface: Tempered glass
  • Best Use Case: As a no-frills scale for tracking body weight.

Setup is simple, too—just pop the included AAA batteries into the back and place it on a level surface to get started. Stamp the surface with a foot and let the scale automatically calibrate itself before beginning the first weigh-in.

Like most scales, the display will go up or down as you wiggle slightly on the scale. However, after a moment, the Renpho will suss out your actual weight, down to the nearest decimal, and flash it at you for a few seconds. The result is a reading that feels reliable, and I notice a difference in my weight of no more than roughly 2 pounds from one day to the next, as expected based on clothing and hydration changes.

Our Thoughts After Using It

My household and I have been on a bit of a health kick lately, with the Wenoker stationary bike and this Renpho scale being the latest pickups. Why not use the latest smart scale, you ask? Since multiple family members are using these objects, something with no frills, zero accounts to log in to, and no app association has been a big bonus.

I’ll admit that the tempered glass surface had me at least slightly worried. Most scales have mottled surfaces or indents for your feet, and missing out on that could be bad, especially if balance issues are present in the house. In actuality, however, I find that the Renpho’s surface never feels slippery, even with socks on, and the scale’s non-slip feet keep it stationary while in use. Instead, I find the tempered glass to be a much more attractive and easier-to-clean surface than what’s been present on any other scale I’ve previously used.

While some shoppers might be attracted to smart scales like the Withings Body Smart Scale or Fitbit Aria Air Smart Scale, the increased price ($130 and $45, respectively) of these devices didn’t reflect what my family needed. Even the similarly priced Wyze Scale S (currently $19) added more complexity than necessary for the simple weigh-ins we require.

The Renpho Digital Body Weight Scale was the best scale for my family, and at over 50%, it might be for yours, too.
