The internet has been flooded with theories about United States (US) President Donald Trump’s supposed disappearance from the public eye.
Conspiracy theorists have raised questions about the 79-year-old’s health, with some even speculating that he may have died. “Where is Donald Trump?” has been trending on X, but despite the online frenzy, Trump appears to remain active on his Truth Social account.
Several old images of the US flag flying at half-mast have also resurfaced on social media, fuelling further speculation. The White House, however, has not released any information to suggest the president is unwell.
ACTIVITY ON TRUMP’S TRUTH SOCIAL
Trump’s most recent post on Truth Social, shared on Saturday, 30 August, focused on US tariffs imposed on other countries. He reiterated that all tariffs remain in effect.
“We should all remember that tariffs are the best tool to help our Workers, and support Companies that produce great Made in America products. For many years, Tariffs were allowed to be used against us by our uncaring and unwise Politicians,” Trump wrote.
To add to the speculation, the president will not attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping is expected to be present. Tariffs are set to be one of the key topics of discussion.
HEALTH CONCERNS
Speculation over Trump’s health come after the White House confirmed that he has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency. It is a condition in which the veins struggle to send blood from the legs back to the heart, according to MedlinePlus.
Trump had also recently trended online after photos showed make-up smeared on his hands. The White House dismissed suggestions of anything sinister, attributing the marks to bruising from frequent handshakes rather than his medical condition.
