There will no longer be a Hamburger at McDonald’s.
But don’t worry, the burger joint will still be flipping patties.
What we mean is Zoe Hamburger, the chain’s senior vice president and chief restaurant officer in the UK, has left her role after 18 months in the job, according to CityAm.
She joined the business in 2024 and was in charge of running the US fast food giant’s delivery and franchising for its branches across the UK.
It’s not clear why she has stepped down from the role.

Maybe Hamburger will be joining Burger King next, but that’s just speculation.

After she was hired, she said she was aware of the nominative determinism with her name.
She previously told The Times: ‘What can I say? I guess some things are meant to be.
‘I’ve worked in and around McDonald’s for my entire career, and Hamburger has been my name my entire life too, so as you can imagine, it has always made people do a bit of a double take.’
She first joined McDonald’s more than ten years ago after working with advertising and Public Relations agencies.
The senior exec then took the reins of the Bethesda Field Office, covering McDonald’s in six US states and over 1,200 restaurants.
In a biography on the firm’s website, it said she had ‘proven herself to be a passionate leader, by tapping into the power of unity and collaboration across all three legs of the stool.’
But despite her name being the beefy snack item, she said her favourite menu McDonald’s item is the Double Cheeseburger, believe it or not.

Hamburger is not the only senior exec to exit the fast food giant.
The UK and Ireland CEO Alistair Macrow stepped down after more than 18 years with the company.
In a statement on LinkedIn last week, he said: ‘It’s a decision that has been thoughtfully considered over time, and I’m confident that now is the right moment for the business to transition to new leadership.
‘The past 18 years with the Golden Arches have been outstanding, and teenage me could never have imagined the career I’d have with this company, what we’d achieve together as a system, or the valuable friendships I’d make along the way.’
McDonald’s UK’s profits are soaring just as the long-timers leave the business.
They almost doubled their profits in 2024 despite cutting more than 2,000 jobs, from £66.3 million pre-tax in 2023 to £120 million last year.
That number is still less than the £120 million recorded in 2022, however.
