Fans of the Sex Pistols and Frank Carter have been left devastated after the band announced their US tour has had to be postponed.

Unfortunately, Steve Jones has broken his wrist — which is incredibly inconvienient when you’re a guitarist about to go on tour.

The gigs, in which they were set to perform their iconic 1977 album all the way through, are set to be reschuled once the 70-year-old musician recovers.

Steve, alongside Paul Cook, Glen Matlock, and vocalist Frank Carter, was due to kick off the American stretch in Dallas, Texas on September 16.

On Instagram, the band wrote: ‘We have some unfortunate news to share about our upcoming North and South American performances. We’ll let Steve explain what’s going on:

‘“I’ve got some good news and bad news. What do you want first? Okay, the bad news: I’ve broken my wrist, so unfortunately we won’t be doing any shows for a while.”‘

Steve didn’t share how he had broken his wrist but the bad news came the day before his birthday so hopefully it didn’t ruin any celebrations.

‘The good news is the surgeon said I will be back playing guitar in the not-too-distant future,’ the guitarist continued. ‘The other good news is I’ll be 70 tomorrow! God bless, and God save the wrist.’

The band confirmed the shows would be ‘postponed and rescheduled when Steve has fully recovered’ but it’s currenly unknown when that will be.

According to the NHS, a broken wrist can take between six to 12 weeks to heal so fans could be looking at the new year for rescheduling.

They directed fas to keep an eye on the venues websites for any extra information before adding ‘We appreciate your understanding and support.’

This tour follows on from a successful UK run last September, with Frank taking over vocals as John Lydon did not return.

Previously known as Johnny Rotten, the 69-year-old singer has been at odds with his former bandmates for many years.

Last year, on the Rockonteurs podcast, Steve shared they hadn’t spoken in years following their last tour together.

‘I haven’t spoken to him in years,’ he said. ‘2008 was the last time I spoke to him. We did 30 shows around Europe.

‘We did a bunch of festivals and all that, Japan, Australia. We ended up at Hammersmith Odeon, Hammersmith Apollo, and then we had one more show in the Basque country and that was it.’

‘I was done after that, no more. Too much. Too old, too much, not enough done.’

Meanwhile, John has repeatedly slated the band for reforming without him for their their ‘karaoke’ tour as he performs with Public Image Ltd.

‘No, I made that clear a long time ago,’ he replied when Metro asked if a reunion tour was ever going to be on the cards.

He explained: ‘They’re impossibly heart-turgid and difficult to deal with and just basically have very bad natures.

‘I think going out and doing this is in extremely poor taste. If you don’t want me around, that’s all well and fine, get your stand-up comedian in my place, but leave my words out of it, because it’s clear you don’t understand them.’
