Food lovers are a vocal group. When a popular item disappears from the menu, they often beg, plead and otherwise implore a restaurant brand to bring it back. Chipotle listened and has brought back the beloved carne asada.
After a hiatus, Chipotle’s Carne Asada triumphantly returned to the menu. Like many people, I craved that bold grilled steak. The combination of smoky spice with a punch of citrus acidity makes it one of the most versatile proteins on the menu.
While carne asada is Chipotle’s most-searched limited time menu item, the popular protein is more than another beef serving. Its taste mimics similar versions at chef-driven restaurants. With consumers craving value paired with sophisticated flavor, Chipotle entices guests to eat at the restaurant.
Chipotle’s Chef-Recommended Carne Asada Order Is an Easy Order
Chipotle’s recommended order is a Carne Asada Burrito with white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa, fresh tomato salsa and cheese. While the brand has a plethora of toppings on the menu, these items were chosen to highlight the beef’s signature flavor.
This particular order does not have any extras, like guac. It is basically a version of a regular Chipotle burrito.

What I Thought of Chipotle’s Chef-Recommended Carne Asada Burrito
When the opportunity to rediscover the carne asada presented itself, I jumped at the chance to try the recommended order. The chef-driven recipe is designed to showcase why Chipotle’s carne asada has a loyal following.

Since the beef is slightly spicy and a little tangy, roasted chili-corn salsa offers a contrasting sweet note. Although it does not totally negate the heat, it makes the protein more rounded. The flavor becomes more of a slow burn instead of a punch in the tastebuds.
Additionally, the fresh tomato salsa adds a punch of acid. Similar to how the lime brings brightness to the beef, the vibrant salsa elevates the flavor. Again, it is another component to creating a well-balanced combination.

Lastly, the selected ingredients do bring some texture to the burrito. Having both crunchy and soft ingredients inside a burrito is vital. Corn, black beans and even the onions in the tomato salsa contrast the beef, cheese and rice.
Overall, Chipotle’s recommended Carne Asada Burrito order showcases the beef’s flavor well. It might be everyone’s preference, but it is a good starting point for someone who has never eaten the protein before.
Other Ways to Order Chipotle’s Carne Asada
Many people have their signature Chipotle order. While the recommended burrito order was tasty, I prefer to skip a burrito and order a bowl instead.
The downside to burritos is that every bite lacks consistency. For example, the end of the burrito can be all tortilla and no beef. In contrast, the center can be overstuffed with ingredients spilling onto the plate. For me, a bowl offers a composed bite every time.

My preferred carne asada order is a bowl with brown rice, black beans, roasted corn salsa, tomatillo-green chili salsa, fajita vegetables and cheese. Since my preferences lean towards more spicy flavors, adding a medium heat level salsa was preferred. It is not overly hot, but it is far from boring.
With a bowl, I can ensure that every bite has a piece of beef, salsa, beans, rice, vegetables and even cheese. It is not necessarily playing with my food, but it ensures that I have it the way that I prefer to eat.
How Long Will Chipotle’s Carne Asada Be Available?
While Chipotle’s carne asada is available now, the restaurant brand did not reveal how long it will be on the menu. Since the food has appeared and disappeared several times, it seems probable that it will be gone again.
For anyone who craves a bite of this tasty beef, they better act quickly. No one wants to be left unsatisfied.
