The NFL season is ramping up, meaning the player’s schedules are full of practices, pre-season games and press events. Saquon Barkley, the Philadelphia Eagle’s star running back and 2024 Super Bowl champ, is likely one of the busiest of all. He’s had a mighty successful year, even off the field, as he’s secured multiple brand partnerships, including Little Caesars, Wells Fargo, Lowe’s and Nintendo, to name a few. Needless to say, his schedule is packed.
What is Saquon Barkley’s Favorite Fast-Food?
Barkley is making headlines for another reason – he dropped his favorite fast food order at an iconic Pennsylvania convenience store, and fans are dying to know what it is. The popular East Coast chain, Wawa, is known for their made-to-order food menu and vast selection of ready-to-eat foods like breakfast sandwiches, pizza and beverages like specialty coffees, shakes and smoothies for those on the go. Even NFL football players need to grab a quick meal here and there. After all, they are on the road a lot.

As a Pennsylvania native and Penn State alum, and now the number 1-rated player in the NFL, continuing his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, Barkley is no stranger to a Wawa hoagie – a local staple. Now affectionately called “The Saquon”, Wawa has named one of their hoagies after him.
The sandwich features oven-roasted deli turkey, American cheese, crisp lettuce, sliced onion and spicy mustard. It sounds fairly simple, but I’m loving the addition of spicy mustard to really amp the flavor and spice level.

Why does Wawa Have a Cult-Like Following?
Fans say Wawa hoagies are so good because their meats and cheeses are sliced fresh to order and their hoagie buns are freshly baked and uber soft. If you’ve never visited a Wawa store before, their menu is brimming with sandwich options, including cold and hot hoagies, paninis, club sandwiches and no-bun hoagies.
They’ve established a cult-like following and loyal customers who come back again and again, not only for the convenience factor, but because they can get a freshly made sandwich for the road.
If you’re ever in the Philadelphia area or on the road in Pennsylvania and have a hankering for Barkley’s hoagie, I think it’s worth a try. After all, anything that’s good enough for him is good enough for us.
