The Springboks failed to end their Eden Park hoodoo as their 88-year win drought at the venue continues following Saturday’s 24-17 defeat against the All Blacks.
Eden Park, New Zealand’s national stadium and the home of rugby in the country, has been a fortress for the All Blacks for 31 years now.
They last lost at the venue to France in 1994 and are now on a 51-Test unbeaten streak.
Worst record
No surprise then to learn that the Springboks boast a poor record at the ground.
In fact, it’s their worst record at any venue in world rugby where they have played at least 10 Tests.
The Springboks’ record at Eden Park now reads: Played 11, won two, drawn one and lost seven for a win percentage of just 18%.
South Africa last tasted victory on 25 September 1937 when lock Phil Nel led his team to a 17-6 win.
At the time of publishing it’s unclear when next the Springboks will get the chance to end that losing streak at Eden Park.
