A woman named Cheryl Richardson Wagner has denied being the angry Phillies fan who demanded a ball from a father and son during a Major League Baseball game.
On top of it, she’s a Boston Red Sox fan.
Internet sleuths identified the woman as Cheryl Wagner. But one woman blamed, Cheryl Richardson Wagner, then changed her profile picture to a denial.
“OK, everyone. I’m not the crazy Philly mom,” she wrote. “But I sure would love to be as thin as she is and move as fast…and I’m a Red Sox fan.”
That Cheryl Wagner added, “I imagine I’ll be receiving apologies from all the people who have been harassing me all day.” She also changed her profile picture to the logo of the Boston Red Sox.
This is false: Cheryl Richardson-Wagner is not the karen from last night’s game.
A few seconds of research would’ve squashed this; instead there are “influencers” ruining some random lady’s weekend.
Literally looks nothing like her, is originally from MA, and is a Pats/Sox fan. https://t.co/xjwAwS1JdJ pic.twitter.com/p18oPfP0M8

The woman’s identity, including whether she is another Cheryl Wagner, is not yet clear.
The Angry Phillies Fan Was Captured on Viral Video Confronting the Dad After He Got a Homerun Ball
The father was initially scrambling for the Harrison Bader home run ball in the stands alongside the woman, who was derided by fans as a “Karen.”
The viral video shows the dad got the ball, and then walked over to his son and gave it to the boy. That’s when the woman sprang into action, confronting the father and telling him that he took it from her. The father looked startled, but then he handed over the ball.
The NBC Sports broadcast captured the confrontation, helping it go viral.

The boy, name is Lincoln, was subsequently treated to an autographed bat from Bader, the Phillies revealed with a series of photos on their X page. The Marlins, who they were playing when the incident occurred, also sent a staffer over to give the boy a ball and other items.
The Marlins told CNN the boy “received a Miami goodie bag and a baseball for him to keep.” The Marlins were hosting the Phillies.
The woman’s behavior was strongly criticized on social media, and the father’s decision to hand over the ball received mixed reaction. However, one thing social media observers got wrong: Cheryl Richardson-Wagner is not the fan in the video.
