UK music festival suddenly cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’

BRISTOL, ENGLAND - AUGUST 11: The Night Glow takes place as pilots of hot air balloons light them up in time to music for the crowds at Bristol International Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court Estate, on August 11, 2022 in Bristol, England. From the event's small beginning in 1979, the Fiesta has grown into what has become Europe's largest annual hot air balloon festival. The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is a charity, run by a committee, and remains free of charge to the public. It attracts over 100 hot-air balloons and 500,000 visitors over the four days of the event. (Photo by Finnbarr Webster/Getty Images)

A popular music festival in East Anglia has been axed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’

The Balloons and Tunes Festival East Anglia, also known as the Monster Country Festival, has been cancelled last minute despite being scheduled to take place next weekend.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14, would have seen the sky full of hot air balloons with fans paying to live music performed at the site.

The event was set to take over the Norfolk Showground but was cancelled with organisers initially telling ticketholders the live music was cancelled, before revealing the whole event was off.

Norfolk Showground & Events centre announced on social media: ‘We regret to inform you that Balloons & Tunes East Anglia, also known as the Monster Country Festival, will no longer be taking place at the Norfolk Showground on 13th and 14th September.

‘If you have already purchased tickets for this event, please contact Skiddle to arrange a refund.

‘We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.’

As described by the hosts, the event ‘brings monster trucks, BBQ, and outdoor fun together for a rip-roarin celebration of Americana in the UK.’

The show encourages fans to bring their cowboy boots and enjoy monster trucks driving over smaller vehicles in some of the exciting displays.

The event was also in collaboration with a hot air balloon event company that was set to bring live music and an illuminated balloon light show.

The event typically takes place across the UK in the summer months and consists of Air Balloon Shows, including Night Glow performances (lit-up hot air balloons at night), funfair rides, and a range of live music performances.

Balloons and Tunes also released an emotive post: ‘It is with deep regret that we must announce Balloons and Tunes East Anglia is now cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. This is absolutely devastating news for us, and we can only apologise to everyone who was looking forward to joining us.

‘Skiddle will be in touch with all ticket holders regarding refunds over the next few days.

‘Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this difficult time.’

Fans were not impressed with either notification, with some complaining that they would not receive their service fee or booking fee despite getting a full refund.
