Kaizer Chiefs could be about to pull off a shrewd piece of business as they raid Orlando Pirates for two veterans.
Paseka Mako to Kaizer Chiefs
According to SABC Sport, 31-year-old Paseka Mako is in advanced talks with Kaizer Chiefs over a winter move. Stellenbosch full-back Fawaaz Basadien was initially their first choice. However, the Winelands club is reluctant to sell the Bafana man, whom they see as an indispensable member of their squad. It’s somewhat of a surprise that Pirates let him go. Like a shortfin Mako shark, Paseka is quick, snappy and compact. The nifty left-back made 26 appearances in the 2024-2025 campaign. 2020-2021 was arguably his finest campaign, with four assists in 20 league outings. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Deon Hotto faces an uncertain long-term future.
‘Orlando Pirates are emptying the recycling bin now’
Is Rulani considering a return to Orlando Pirates?
Former Sundowns manager Rulani Mokwena has vacated his post as head coach of Wydad AC. The 38-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to Orlando Pirates, and Rulani isn’t doing much to quell those rumours. He served as Josef Zinnbauer’s assistant in the 2019-2020 campaign.

Will Mako thrive at Chiefs?
