Black Sabbath’s last gig was a masterpiece of metal but Ozzy Osbourne’s final words to the guy who put it all together were a little brutal.
Tom Morello, 61, was the leading force behind the Back to the Beginning farewell — but he didn’t get special treatment from the icon.
Speaking to Loudwire, the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine revealed his last conversation with Osbourne before his death at 76.
‘The day is done,’ he recalled. ‘It’s been great, and people have been working on the show for a very long time, and we’re all hugging and crying. So we go to the afterparty and finally it’s mellow.
‘I’m playing pinball with my son. And somebody taps me on the shoulder, and I’m in the middle of a multi-ball, and I’m like, “Get off me.” And it’s Jack Osbourne because his dad wants to say hi.’
Morello, of course, went over to speak to Osbourne after putting on the huge celebration in his honour, which took months of planning.

‘First of all, Ozzy comes to the afterparty, which is crazy right?’ he laughed and continued: ‘And so, I got to, one last time, kiss his head, tell him I love him, thank him for a lifetime of music.
‘And his reply was, “Could you find Sharon? I want to get the f**k out of here.’”
Thankfully, Morello wasn’t taken aback by the Crazy Train legend wanting to ditch the party and called it the ‘perfect’ way to end things.
The guitarist had also taken to the stage himself, performing with Steven Tyler in a triumphant tribute to Sabbath.
He said the event had come together fairly easily, with all the artists wanting to be there for Osbourne and just have a good show.

Without naming names, he teased that some did argue over which cover they wanted to perform but these issues were ironed out quickly.
He added that the final gig had extra ‘resonance’, having proved what a welcoming community rock and metal fans are.
Artists like Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Slash all performed at the show.
Yungblud also took to the stage performing a rendition of Changes, having been taken under Osbourne’s wing and formed a fast friendship.

The singer also paid tribute to the War Pigs icon at the VMAs, wearing his mentor’s cross necklace as he sang an Ozzy medley with Aerosmith.
Despite positive reactions from viewers, The Darkness’ Dan Hawkins slammed the whole thing as ‘s**t’.
Taking to social media, the I Believe in a Thing Called Love hitmaker wrote: ‘What a bunch of bell**ds. Another nail in the coffin of rock n roll. Cynical, nauseating and more importantly; s**t.
‘Makes me sick how people jump on this s**t to further their own careers.’
