Prince Harry lays wreath for Queen, honours kids at awards

Prince Harry has returned to London, marking a week of public events with an emotional start at the WellChild Awards.

The Duke of Sussex honoured children with complex medical needs, praising their “courage” and “resilience” during a heartfelt speech.

PRINCE HARRY IN THE U.K.

Harry flew in from the United States on Monday. His first stop was Windsor, where he laid a wreath at St George’s Chapel. He did this on the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

Later, at the WellChild ceremony, he joined children in playful balloon swordfights and light-hearted chats, according to the BBC.

“Do siblings drive you mad?” he asked one winner, drawing laughter. In another conversation, he revealed he had been watching the Netflix series Hostage.

PRINCE HARRY ON THE STRENGTH OF YOUNG PATIENTS

The prince highlighted the strength of young patients and their families. “The world has thrown a fair few challenges our way,” he said.

“But your love and resilience continue to inspire us all.” Among the winners was six-year-old Esmée McGlinchey, who has endured 35 surgeries but continues to smile through her daily struggles.

POTENTIAL REUNION WITH KING CHARLES

Prince Harry’s solo trip has prompted speculation about whether he will reunite with King Charles.

The two have not met face to face since February 2024, shortly after the King’s cancer diagnosis. Meghan and the couple’s children have remained in California.

The prince’s schedule will take him across England over the next few days. On Tuesday, he will travel to Nottingham, where he plans to announce a large donation to a Children in Need project.

CHARITY DUTIES

On Wednesday, he will visit Imperial College London to tour the Centre for Blast Injury Studies.

Prince Harry’s appearance highlights his long history of work with young people and hospitals, including his charity ties to Lesotho and Botswana.

His words remind audiences beyond Britain that resilience is universal. “Your courage, your resilience… it gives us all hope,” he told the children.
