While Subway has always sought to capture the concept of eating fresh, the newest subs focus on the current food trend, protein. As the Fresh Fit Menu returns to the menu, these reimagined food items prove that people do not need to compromise on flavor to hit their protein goals.
In the competitive quick service restaurant market, companies are continually adapting to the next food trend. From saucy nuggets to value meals, each new menu drop seeks to entice another purchase. Subway and its culinary team appreciate that value and nutrition must bring satisfying flavor in every bite.
Subway’s Fresh Fit Menu Gives Guests What They Crave.
Responding to consumers’ demand for more protein-packed options, Subway has brought back its Fresh Fit Menu. Available starting September 17, each of the four sub options has over 20 g of protein. Served on multigrain bread, a 6 inch sub is under 500 calories and includes a vegetable serving.

The four sub options are Grilled Chicken & Avocado, Ham & Turkey Stacker, Seasoned Steak & Avocado and Turkey & Ranch Delite. A few options have up to 50% more meat on every sub.
According to Chef Paul Fabre, Subway’s Global Head of Culinary and Innovation, each new recipe was designed with guests’ preferences in mind. Specifically, the team created these options to incorporate favorite ingredients while making the curated options convenient.
Fabre said, “We know what our guests prefer when customizing their sub or creating their own better-for-you meal, and we made sure the most popular choices are prominently featured in Fresh Fit sandwiches – like multigrain bread, spinach, smashed avocado, and Roma tomatoes.”
While Subway appreciates that guests crave more protein, the culinary team understands that flavor continually drives choice. Fabre focused on exceeding guests’ expectations on taste. Instead of choosing to skip a sauce or omit an ingredient, the Fresh Fit Menu creates a composed option that delivers on every element.
Subway Combines Flavor Innovation with Food Trends.
Since protein is a substantial food trend, Subway understood that its Fresh Fit Menu needed to do more than just pile meat onto its multigrain bread. Given the numerous options across the quick service restaurant space, Subway needed to appeal to both loyal customers and new guests.
Fabre accomplished this task by creating a well-balanced, thoughtful menu. Specifically, he said, “guests are looking for snack and meal options that offer more than just protein. They want to feel satisfied and not regret eating something heavier, like a burger. They don’t want to plan meals ahead of time or compromise on something boring or uninteresting when eating on the go. Fresh Fit was designed to deliver on all those needs, and build on Subway’s legacy of great-tasting, nutritious options.”
Which of the four subs will become the fan favorite? Fabre predicts that Turkey & Ranch Delite or Chicken & Avocado will resonate because of the most popular sauces, Baja Chipotle and Peppercorn Ranch.
For people who crave fast, fresh and protein-packed food options, Subway’s Fresh Fit Menu is waiting. Convenience combined with flavor will always have a loyal following.
