Jon Cryer’s Telling Reaction About Charlie Sheen’s Netflix Documentary

Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen, for better or for worse, will always be linked. For nearly a decade, the hilarious duo helmed Chuck Lorre’s Two and a Half Men. On the set, they were the perfect 1-2 comedy punch. Off the set, there was seemingly nothing funny about their working relationship.

“I worked with Charlie Sheen for eight years,” Cryer says in the doc, via Variety. “And if you wonder what it’s like to work with Charlie Sheen for eight years, when I started, I had hair.”

Cryer and Sheen co-starred on the CBS sitcom for eight seasons, from 2003 when it first premiered until Sheen’s infamous firing in 2011, following his very public meltdown. The latter is the subject of a new Netflix documentary, featuring those closest to Sheen, including his childhood friend, Sean Penn, his brother, Ramon Estevez, and the so-called “Hollywood Madam,” Heidi Fleiss.

Cryer’s also in the documentary, but agreeing to sit down didn’t come easy for him.

“I had some trepidation about participating in this, partially because part of the cycle of Charlie Sheen’s life has been that he messes up terribly, he hits rock bottom, and then he gets things he gets things going again,” Cryer says. “And he brings a lot of positivity in his life, and that’s when he burns himself out again. He just can’t help but set that house on fire, and I didn’t want to be a part of that cycle. I’m not here to build him up and I’m not here to tear him down. But I sure hope this doesn’t go bad.”

Sheen’s documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, is available to stream now on Netflix.
